CVR College of Engineering to Receive VLSI Design Tools from Cadence
HYDERABAD, India—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Dec. 16, 2003—
CVR College of Engineering, the fastest growing
engineering college in Andhra Pradesh, will receive VLSI design
software from Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NYSE:CDN) through its
University Software Program for CVR's new Center for Excellence in
VLSI Design. The Center will have industry-standard state-of-art VLSI
EDA tools. The donated software consists of Cadence(R) simulation,
verification, layout and place-and-route tools, as well as
Encounter(TM) RTL Compiler--a global synthesis technology-based
solution that delivers the highest quality of silicon - speed, area,
and power as measured with wires.
Cadence is also providing a ready-to-deploy semester-long
curriculum on the digital implementation flow for system-on-chip (SoC)
designs, supported by the "Train the Trainer" program, in which
Cadence application engineers train faculty on Cadence tools.
In addition to instructing CVR students, the Center will train the
faculty of other engineering colleges via short-term/certificate
courses. This will enable the students of CVR to be readily absorbed
by the VLSI design industry due to the fact that they are exposed to
the latest industry-leading EDA tools.
"Through our University Software Program, Cadence continues to
demonstrate its commitment to enhancing the quality and quantity of
electrical engineers in India," said Mr. Himanshu Singh, executive
director, India & SAARC Countries, Cadence Design Systems (I) Pvt.
Ltd. "Our engagement with CVR further emphasizes this, and it will
benefit the Indian electronic design industry by enhancing the pool of
VLSI design engineers."
"CVR continues to engage with leading industries under its
industry-institution program so as to help students gain access to
industry-standard tools. The Center for VLSI Design is another step in
that direction. These are the same tools that are widely used in the
industry today to design state-of-art VLSI chips, and our students
will be productive right on day one of the job," said Dr. Raghava
Cherabuddi, president, CVR College of Engineering.
